Speedway is returning to the Welsh Capital this Saturday for the Adrian Flux British FIM Speedway Grand Prix.

The racing competition involves riders going around a track on 500cc motorbikes, with no breaks reaching speeds up to 70 MPH. The bikes run on Methanol which is an environmentally friendly fuel.
The gates will open at 3.30pm and the first race starts at 5.00pm. For the safety of those attending, there will be a small city centre road closure in place for this event.
The following roads will be closed between 3pm until 9.30pm

- Tudor Street from its junction with Clare Road to its junction with Wood Street (access for residents and traders will be permitted via Fitzhammon Embankment.)
- Plantagenet Street and Beauchamp Street from their junctions with Despenser Place to their junctions with Tudor Street (access for residents and traders will be permitted.)
- Saunders Road from its junction with St Mary Street.
- Customhouse Street throughout its length (access to private car parks will be permitted).
- Penarth Road from its junction with Saunders Road to the entrance leading to the rear of the Central Train Station.
- The following roads will be closed in their entirety: High Street, St Mary Street, Caroline Street, Wood Street, Central Square, Westgate Street, Quay Street, Guildhall Place, Golate, Park Street, Havelock Street and Scott Road.
- Post event, there may be a need to put a lane closure, or hold traffic on Cowbridge Road East/Castle Street adjacent to gate 1.
The following roads will be closed between 5am and 8pm to facilitate the Speedway Fanzone on City Hall lawn
- King Edward V11 Avenue from the junction with City Hall to the junction with Boulevard de Nantes.
The Authorities are advising that if there are any safety concerns relating to the queuing system at Cardiff Central Train Station, then Wood Street, Westgate Street, Park Street, Havelock Street, St Mary Street, Penarth Road, Saunders Road and Customhouse Street will remain closed until these issues are resolved.
Can you cycle or walk?
Those that live locally in Cardiff may want to travel by bicycle or walk.Research shows us that 52% of car trips made in the Welsh Capital are less than 5km. This is a distance that can be comfortably cycled in 20 minutes. We also know that 28% of Cardiff residents that currently do not cycle would like to do so. When the roads are congested this makes cycling an even more attractive option as travel by bicycle would be quicker than a car during rush hours or during big events.
Trains
Network Rail is advising all customers that there are no planned engineering work for this event.

Transport for Wales is advising all customers that trains in the Cardiff area are expected to be busy all day. Those travelling into the city to watch the match are advised to leave plenty of time for their journey.
Cardiff Queen Street will remain open to the travelling public and will have a minimal crowd management presence. However, there will be no queueing system in operation

Event Park & Ride – Wilcox House
The park & ride facility will be located at Wilcox House, on Dunlevy Drive in Cardiff Bay, CF11 0BA.
Getting there: Access from Junction 33 off the M4, then follow signs to the site.
Drop off Point: Taffs Mead Embankment, off Wood Street in the city centre – two minute walk to the stadium

Staff will arrive at the car park at 9am, the site will open with the first bus leaving at 9.30am. The last bus will leave the pick-up point in the city centre at 10pm, with the car park closing at 10.30pm.
Event-Day parking
Sophia Gardens– Event-day parking will be available at Sophia Gardens and will cost £15 in cash on the day. No pre-booking is available.
The car park will open at 8am and will close at midnight. To get to Sophia Gardens exit the M4 via junction 32.
Civic Centre– Access to the Civic Centre will be controlled, with access allowed only for event-day parking, loading, and access to private car parks. The roads affected include, King Edward V11 Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road and Gorsedd Gardens Road. The car park opens at 8am and closes at midnight
Coach parking

Disabled parking
Disabled drivers are advised to use Sophia Gardens. Additional capacity is also available at various private car parks. Please check individual websites for availability.
Buses
Buses will be diverted out of the central city centre bus stops. Bus displaced from stops within the closure will relocate to either Churchill Way for the East. Greyfriars Road for the North and Tudor Street for the West. Please visit the various bus operators for changes to their services:
