Llandudno Hotel expands following refurbishment of building next door

A four-star hotel in the heart of North Wales has secured a £500,000 finance facility from HSBC UK to undergo an extensive refurbishment project, following the acquisition of an adjacent building earlier in the year.

Known for its quality cuisine, warmth and hospitality, The Dunoon Hotel in Llandudno (established in 2002) has used the six-figure funding to completely restore and fit-out the 12,000 sq. ft. derelict building next door. The refurbishment is creating an additional 18 luxury rooms to meet rising demand for the high-end hotel experience, whilst preserving the part of the hotel that locals already know and love.

The works started in early 2019 and are expected to be complete by February 2020. The new refurbishment will create a further five jobs, adding to the Victorian seaside town’s rich tourism economy.

The original hotel prides itself on its individuality and high-quality offering. The rooms have all been completed with attention to detail and with an eye for a luxury finish. Adding an additional 18 rooms will allow the well-loved hotel to meet its popular demand.

Rhys Williams, Managing Director of the Dunoon Hotel, said:

“I’m very pleased and proud to be on the home straight after spending the last year reviving the derelict property next door to The Dunoon, which means we no longer need to turn people away due to a lack of space! The funding from HSBC UK has been instrumental in helping us provide a new, high-end offer to people who love travelling, as well as helping us realise our ambitions of growing our family-run business. We’re really excited to officially open the building in February 2020.”

Martin Lyons, HSBC UK’s Business Banking Area Director for North Wales, said:

“We’re delighted to support the expansion of this very popular hotel. The Dunoon is unique in the Victorian seaside town of Llandudno, so we look forward to seeing an influx of new visitors to the newly renovated hotel.”

The family-run hotel is proud to have already been awarded two AA rosettes for culinary excellence in 2019, a Visit Wales Gold Award and Go North Wales Tourism Hotel of the year 2018.
