Caerphilly Council has been closely monitoring the situation surrounding the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) outbreak, aligning their response to the Public Health Wales guidelines, whilst making preparations for any upcoming events.

In line with recent decisions from high profile sporting events such as the London Marathon, the council have decided that it is in the best interest of runners, spectators, volunteers and event staff to postpone the Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10K/2K that was scheduled to take place on 17th May 2020.

The Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10K/2K will now take place on Sunday 13th September 2020.

In a statement on the council website, a spokesperson said:

“We know that many of you will have been training hard for a long time, but your health, and that of our spectators, volunteers, event staff and the wider population is our main priority at this time. We understand and share your disappointment with this outcome, but given the circumstances we believe that the postponement will allow the event to reach its full potential in September.

“All entries will be transferred automatically to the new date. There is no need to get in touch to amend any details. There is nothing for you to do if you have already registered.

“Additional information relating to when race packs can be expected, road closure information and other operational details will be shared at a time closer to the event.”
