A Welsh football team in the 2021-22 Premier League

The Championship season is already past the halfway mark, and the completion for top honors is tough among the Welsh teams. Cardiff City and Swansea City are the top Welsh teams, and both have a good chance of making it back to the Premier League at the end of the current season. Swansea is the Welsh team worth wagering your Netbet welcome offer on as they will ensure they win all the matches to return to the Premiership. However, pundits argue that Norwich City have the best chance of returning to the Premier League.

The Canaries won the Championship two seasons ago. But, their last Premiership season was not fruitful as they finished at the bottom of the table. According to the odds at bookmakers, Norwich, Brent, and Bournemouth are likely to return to the top-tier league. So, where do the Welsh teams stand?

    Swansea City

Swansea moved up to second in the EFL table after the last round of games. They sit four points behind Norwich. At the moment, they have the second-best form. They have won three of their last four matches and drawn one. Brentford, who sit fourth at the table, are the in-form team at the EFL currently.

Under Steve Cooper’s guidance, Swansea have had one win and a draw in their last two matches. The games were against Reading and Watford, who are also in the fight for promotion.

Andre Ayew and Jamal Lowe’s scoring form has helped the team a lot, with each scoring eight goals. Their keeper, Freddie Woodman, on loan from Newcastle United, has also been exceptional. He has managed 13 clean sheets in 23 games. No other keeper in the Premiership has had more.

Swansea have played in the Premier League for less than 10 seasons. Their best finish was 6th in 1982 and 8th in 2015. This season, they have another chance to be promoted to the Premiership

    Cardiff City

Cardiff City had a fantastic season last season but came short after losing the semi-finals to Fulham. Currently, they sit 15th on the EFL table after losing three games back to back. Out of all the EFL teams, they have the worst form. Their poor form has put them eight points away from the last play-offs spot.

Their defeats were hard to swallow as they lost to Norwich, Brentford, and Wycombe. Their previous form was encouraging as they won four on the bounce. It is for this reason that they are 11th on the bookmakers’ promotion odds list.

Cardiff have played twice in the Premier League, and the last time was two years ago. Their manager, Neil Harris, will be looking at Kiefer Moore to keep scoring and Harry Wilson and Sheyi Ojo to keep providing the assists if they are to stand a chance.

At the moment, it is almost impossible to imagine the two Welsh teams in the Premiership next season. It will be tough for them to finish in the top two. The only way would be for Cardiff to reach the play-offs and win it.
