Aber Falls secures significant UK-wide distribution

Aber Falls Whisky Distillery has grown its presence with supermarket listings across the UK.

The multiple award-winning Welsh whisky from Abergwyngregyn – a rural village between the foothills of the Snowdonian mountains and the Menai Strait – will be present in Sainsbury’s, ASDA and Morrisons stores on a national scale over the coming months.

The comprehensive supermarket listings give Aber Falls its biggest-ever presence across the UK since the brand’s launch and is part of a long-term expansion plan to grow the Welsh whisky category, while educating retailers and consumers on the brand’s history, and its vision for the future.

Welsh and proud, Aber Falls Distillery prides itself on its rich provenance, so much so, that in collaboration with other Welsh distilleries, it is working towards protecting Welsh whisky with a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI).

Dr Kirstie McCallum, Master Blender at Aber Falls and responsible for orchestrating the taste profile, said: “One of the big advantages of producing whisky in Wales is having more scope to experiment with a variety of casks, and our wood strategy has also been a key contributor to the finished liquid, which we are thrilled to be distributing across key retailers.”

McCallum adds: “The setting of Aber Falls is incredibly unique and the remote microclimate creates ideal conditions to influence the character of the whisky which consumers will now be able to easily enjoy and try for themselves.”

James Wright, Managing Director at Aber Falls Whisky Distillery, said: “We are really proud and excited to offer Aber Falls Whisky on a scale we’ve not seen before to customers in Wales and beyond.  As the first whisky to be distilled in North Wales for 100 years, we believe the Single Malt Welsh Whisky truly encapsulates the ‘Spirit of North Wales’ and the distillery’s distinctive character and are confident it will have been worth the wait.”
