The shortlist for Green Man Festival’s emerging talent competition, Green Man Rising, has been announced. Welsh language singer Mari Mathias is among the top five who have been selected. She is joined by TTSSFU, ladylike, Nature Kids and The Orchestra (For Now). Following a successful internship and work experience programme over the last year, Asda announced they have offered learners permanent positions at the store in Queensferry. Coleg Cambria and Asda’s Supported Internship Programme launched last summer and has been a huge success to date. In partnership with charity DFN Project Search, the retailer’s Queensferry store took on a group of Cambria’s ILS (Independent Living Skills) learners, providing full-time work experience on the shop floor and in the warehouse. Over 1,000 young people in Ceredigion have benefitted from Welsh Government’s Small Grants Scheme, which is aimed at enhancing Welsh-Medium Youth Work opportunities for young people aged between 11 and 25. In September 2021, the Wales Interim Youth Work Board’s final report made 14 recommendations to enhance and improve the Youth Work Offer in Wales. Eluned Morgan, the Welsh Government’s Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, has visited the sector-leading medical education facilities at the University of South Wales (USW). A group of 20 Level 3 Business and Level 3 Computing learners from Cardiff and Vale College have been on a once in a lifetime trip visiting the high-tech companies and cultural highlights of Silicon Valley and San Francisco in California, USA. The trip, which was funded by the Turing Project and gained some sponsored by IT company Trusted Data Solutions for branded clothing, saw the diverse group of learners – some of whom had never flown before – go on a 17-day adventure around California.
