Landmarks across Cardiff will be lit up tonight to mark four years since the start of the war in Ukraine. In a show of solidarity, both Cardiff Castle and the Roath Park Scott Memorial will be illuminated as part of a UK wide tribute to the people of Ukraine. The Ukrainian flag will also fly above Cardiff Castle, reaffirming the city’s continued support for those affected by the conflict. Care workers across Wales will be able to develop their skills and gain qualifications through a new National Social Care Academy. The Welsh Government is today announcing £1.5 million in funding to support the first phase of the academy. It will build on the success of established local care academy models already operating in several parts of Wales. These models offer paid employment alongside training, enabling care workers to develop their skills and gain nationally recognised qualifications. Nominations are now open for Wales’ only dedicated cancer awards. Held every two years, the Moondance Cancer Awards celebrate and spotlight individuals, teams and collaborations across NHS Wales and its partners who deliver, lead and innovate cancer services. Ryanair has launched its Summer 2026 schedule for Cardiff, confirming five routes including popular sunshine destinations and a key city break link. The airline will operate services to Alicante, Faro, Malaga and Tenerife, alongside Dublin. Extra frequencies will run on four of the routes, with Alicante, Dublin, Faro and Malaga all seeing additional services this summer.
