Thousands of runners descended on Barry Island on Sunday for the 2023 ABP Barry Island 10K, with recently unsettled weather making way for blue skies and sunshine. The 10K took runners on a scenic tour of the town with highlights including Whitmore Bay, Romilly Park, the Knap and Watch House Bay. Gwrych Castle has been given a lifeline of £2.2m by the National Heritage Memorial Fund (NHMF) as part of their Covid-19 Response Fund. The impressive Grade I listed building is one of Britain’s most important castellated mansions and has been identified by Cadw as an irreplaceable cultural asset. A summer rise in reports of animals injured by discarded fishing litter has prompted the RSPCA to issue a stark warning to new and inexperienced anglers. The warning comes as the number of calls last year to the charity reporting wildlife injured by angling litter (such as old fishing line, weights and barbed hooks) almost doubled over the summer, rocketing by 97%, with 186 reports in July compared to 94 in January. The RSPCA received 1,245 calls about fishing litter across England & Wales throughout 2022, with around half (614 or 49.3%) of those calls made between June and September.…

The sale at Halghton Grove, Halghton Lane, Penley was conducted by leading regional auctioneers Halls on behalf of the executors of the late Mr Peter Groom.
