Shakespeare comedy Twelfth Night is due to play in the grounds of Oystermouth Castle on Wednesday, August 9. The Tale of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny, adapted from stories by Beatrix Potter, will be performed at the same venue the following day. Both are being organised by Swansea Council. Swansea Council is investing an additional £250,000 in supporting projects to provide food for children and young people during this summer’s school holidays. The extra cash will help provide around 50,000 extra meals to children in Swansea at risk of going without. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Welsh Government introduced temporary payments during the school holidays to families receiving free school meals, but these have now ended. Tourism projects across Wales have won a share of the Welsh Government’s £5m Brilliant Basics Fund to help deliver a first-class holiday experience, Deputy Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism Dawn Bowden has confirmed this week. 29 tourism infrastructure projects in north, mid & south west and south east Wales have received investment from the fund, which helps deliver small-scale tourism infrastructure improvements. The Farmers’ Union of Wales has boosted the funds of mental health charity, The DPJ Foundation, with £50,000 after just over three years of fundraising. The charity was announced as the FUW’s presidential charity at the Royal Welsh Show in 2019 and the Union has held various fundraising activities in that time including farmhouse breakfast events, mountain climbs, walks and bingo nights to name a few.
