Ten roads within the county are being proposed for speed limit changes following a review by the Vale of Glamorgan Council in line with new Welsh Government guidance. Four roads could move from 20mph to 30mph: Pentir Y De in Rhoose and part of Llantwit Major Road and Cardiff Road (Primrose Hill) in Cowbridge, along with a section of Hayes Road in Sully. Leckwith Road in Llandough, Main Road in Ogmore-By-Sea and part of Lavernock Road in Penarth are proposed to change from 30mph to 20mph. More than 130,000 potholes across 266 miles of road in Wales have been fixed or prevented in the last six months. Since April the Welsh Government has been working closely with local councils to deliver on its commitment of ‘Fixing our roads’. The local government borrowing initiative has enabled local councils to fix or prevent around 107,000 potholes across 216 miles of local roads in Wales. A major peatland restoration project in the Black Mountains is saving tens of thousands of tonnes of carbon emissions every year – the equivalent of taking 169 cars off the road – thanks to £1.2m of Welsh Government support.
