Jack Liam Carroll has been sentenced to 11 years in prison plus an extended licence period of four years after being found guilty of 9 charges including assault and rape. The 27-year-old from Caerau, Cardiff, denied the charges but was found guilty of one count of rape, three counts of assault by penetration, and five counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Ten projects that will help Powys play its part in tackling the climate crisis have received nearly £2 million in funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). Wales’s already impressive recycling record is set to improve thanks to a new law that was passed in the Senedd last week. The Workplace Recycling Regulations will require all business, public and third sector workplaces to separate key recyclable materials in the way that householders already do across most of Wales. The law will come into force on 6th April 2024 and will increase recycling and reduce the amount of waste sent for incineration and to landfill. The swimming pools at Plascrug Leisure Centre will temporarily close to undergo essential upgrades to improve the facilities offered to the public. Work will be carried out between 11 and 15 December 2023 to upgrade the swimming pool’s pipework. In order to carry out this work safely, both pools will need to be closed for a short period of time.
