South Wales Police were called just before 9.10am this morning with a report that a 29-year-old woman had been stabbed on Moy Road, Aberfan, Merthyr.  The suspect left the scene immediately. At 3.50pm this afternoon a 28-year-old man from Merthyr, who is known to the victim, was arrested in the Merthyr area on suspicion of attempt murder and is currently in police custody. Local schools activated their lockdown protocols to keep pupils safe and neighbourhood officers remained in the area to ensure pupils were able to leave school safely at their normal time. The Pen y Cymoedd Wind Farm community fund has invested almost £122k to kick start a project aimed to educate, build skills, and empower children and young people across the Afan Valley. The KnowURights project is a three-year campaign being actioned by the Children’s Rights Unit in Neath Port Talbot. Bodnant Garden, a National Trust Cymru garden in North Wales, is joining together with Forestry England to plant critically endangered Wollemi pine trees as part of the first global ‘metacollection’ to save the iconic species from extinction and help protect the biodiversity of wild trees.  More than 170 young Wollemi Pine trees grown by Botanic Gardens of Sydney were shipped from Australia and have been carefully looked after at Forestry England’s tree nursery at Bedgebury. Poo from across North Wales is being used to heat homes and cook meals in Wrexham, an MS has heard. During a visit to Welsh Water’s wastewater treatment work in Ruthin, Llŷr Gruffydd, who represents North Wales in the Senedd, was told how human waste from the region is processed so it can be used by the National Grid.
