Schools, streets the city centre and community facilities across the city saw investment of more than £123m last year, according to a report due to be seen by Swansea Council’s Cabinet next week. The 42nd 10k goes under starters’ orders at 11am this Sunday, and thousands of spectators will see around 4,000 runners take part. Crowds are likely to start gathering at around 8.30am. Since the regular bus service ceased at the beginning of August, Heolgerrig and Ynysfach have been without public transport access to the town centre. However, utilising funds from the Welsh Government’s Bus Services Support Grant, Peter’s Minibuses has now applied to run a limited service of five runs a day, commencing from Heolgerrig at 07:55 with the last bus leaving the Bus Interchange at 17:40. The Welsh Government has announced that all health boards will now be in some form of escalation status amid concerns about the extreme financial challenges they are facing caused by years of UK Government austerity measures and record levels of inflation. There are four levels of intervention available, which trigger increased support for NHS organisations from routine arrangements (the lowest intervention level); enhanced monitoring; targeted intervention to special measures (the highest rate of intervention). The Welsh Government has today announced it has sold Seren Stiwdios in Cardiff to major media infrastructure company Great Point Studios who have leased the studio since 2020. The purchase is yet another show of confidence for Wales’ flourishing film and TV industry and in addition to the sale of the site, the Welsh Government and Cardiff Capital Region have agreed a funding package of £18m to further develop the studios and facilities in Wentloog. £12m debt finance has been secured through the CCR’s £50m Strategic Premises Fund, with £6m in grant funding through Creative Wales. Alexander Wilkinson, from Birchgrove, Swansea, was arrested for a public order offence at last season’s Cardiff City v Swansea City game at the Cardiff City Stadium. Throughout the game, the 41-year-old was seen to goad, verbally abuse, and gesture towards opposing fans. Wilkinson, who has previously been subject to a three-year Football Banning Order, also attempted the breakthrough the segregation line between home and away fans. Saturday 9th September, 2023, would have been Robert Williams’ 37th birthday and South Wales Police is renewing our appeal for information. Robert was aged 15 when he went missing from his home in Resolven, Neath, on 22nd March, 2002. Despite extensive enquiries and numerous appeals for information over the past 21 years, officers have been unable to find him.
