Cadw is leading an ambitious five-year programme of essential conservation works at the iconic Tintern Abbey. Tintern’s greatest glory, the superb Gothic Church, has stood on the banks of the River Wye for over 700 years. Over the centuries, the weather has eroded the soft medieval stonework and  a large-scale conservation project is now underway to preserve the monument and make it safe for visitors. The majority of bus services in Wales will be protected thanks to a new transitional scheme announced by the Welsh Government today (Friday, June 16). Deputy Climate Change Minister Lee Waters published details of the Bus Transition Fund this morning in a joint statement with the WLGA and bus operators. The Deputy Minister with responsibility for transport confirmed the fund would replace the Bus Emergency Scheme which comes to an end late July. Wales is donating a specialised airport fire truck to Kharkiv Airport in Ukraine in response to an appeal following a missile attack which left the airport’s original fire truck damaged beyond repair. Following Russia’s illegal and unprovoked war against Ukraine, Kharkiv Airport was forced to halt its operations in February 2022. In April 2022, the airport was struck by a missile attack which rendered one of its fire trucks damaged beyond repair. The UK Space Agency is to dock its 72ft model rocket in Swansea from June 22-26. The number of investment deals in Wales increased by 19% in 2022 compared to the previous year. However, the total value of equity deals fell by 10%. The data is reported in the British Business Bank’s annual Small Business Equity Tracker, published today, which also reveals that the number of UK-wide announced equity deals fell by 7% in 2022 and the total value of equity investment in small businesses declined by 11% to £16.7bn, driven by a downturn in market conditions.
