Major reconfiguration works will soon be taking place to convert the lower ground floor of Morriston’s historic Tabernacle Chapel into a vibrant community resilience hub. The Tabernacle Morriston Congregation has successfully applied to Swansea Council for £450,000 through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund. Morriston Tabernacle Chapel, which dates back to 1872, is one of only three Grade 1 listed buildings in Swansea, excluding castles. A dedicated space for artists to transform has been opened in Newport. The new graffiti wall in Glebelands Park will give artists a place to display their works, while bringing a splash of colour to the area. The designation of a legal graffiti space aims to encourage innovation and creativity in a safe environment, while reducing the level of graffiti in unauthorised areas. Monmouthshire County Council has issued an update on the planned resurfacing works on the Wye Bridge in Monmouth. The proposed closure, due to start 16th October, has now been postponed until Spring 2024 at the earliest. The decision has been made after the Council was unable to proceed due to a non-compliant tender. The need for a major investment to improve the condition of the Wye Bridge is widely appreciated by residents and businesses in Monmouth and surrounding areas. Powys County Council is set to confirm a groundbreaking agreement with neighbouring Welsh and English authorities. A proposed Marches Forward Partnership will see Powys work with Monmouthshire County Council, Shropshire County Council and Herefordshire County Council.
