A £10.000 donation by kind hearted trailer makers can help the Wales Air Ambulance save five lives, according to the charity. Long-term supporters Ifor Williams Trailers kicked off the fundraising at the Urdd National Eisteddfod in Denbigh where they had a stand. They converted one of their trailers for use in the rugby line-out throwing competition with cut-out holes for targets in its tilted bed. Hywel Dda Health Charities has funded over £30,000 worth of items and equipment for the new Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) in Glangwili Hospital. New research from the CIPD and HiBob shows that more than half of bosses (55%) agree with collecting information on regular home workers, including the amount of time spent on laptops each day and email sending behaviours to identify risk of burnout. However, only three in ten (28%) leaders say their organisations are using software to monitor the productivity of home workers. Scientists have developed a way of using artificial intelligence to quickly identify parasites infecting animals. A team from Aberystwyth University and disease technology company Techion has developed and tested new machine learning tools that automatically identify the parasite using images from a camera. The discovery could help farmers in Wales and around the world diagnose infections quicker and subsequently speed up treatment. Liver and rumen flukes are parasites that infect grazing livestock around the world, and can lead to loss of appetite, poorer body condition, and greater susceptibility to other infections.
