A touring exhibition telling the story of Wales’s contribution to the Battle of Britain opened this week (17 October) at Merthyr Tydfil Central Library. The Wales and the Battle of Britain Exhibition, created by the RAF’s Air Historical Branch to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the event in 2020, is touring Wales and will be at the library until Friday (21 October). A north Powys museum will be holding an event later this month to celebrate the arrival of new treasure acquisitions, the county council has said. Police are continuing to investigate the fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the A48 near the roundabout at Laleston heading towards Stormy Down at around 9.10 on Sunday, 16 October. A man and woman from Swansea have been handed suspended prison sentences after they pleaded guilty for causing unnecessary suffering to their dog by failing to get veterinary treatment for her tumour and weight loss. Terence Patrick Box and Melenie Jane Box, both of Brynawel Crescent, Treboeth, Swansea, were sentenced on Friday October 7 after previously pleading guilty to one offence under the Animal Welfare Act. PLANS to preserve the heritage of a North Wales railway that inspired Thomas the Tank Engine and Brecon’s 1,000-year-old cathedral have taken a step forward. It’s thanks to over £250,000 in developments grants that have been awarded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Swansea Building Society has donated £12,500 to its official staff charity, Maggie’s Swansea, presenting a cheque at the charity’s annual ball, held at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea, on Friday October 7, 2022.
