Following the Ofgem decision to raise the energy cap, Swansea’s Energy Awareness Hub team has announced a series of free community roadshows in September that are open to all. The initiative is being funded by Swansea Council’s Economic Recovery Fund  and the roadshows will offer common-sense support to those looking for ways to reduce household energy consumption to help deal with the cost of living crisis. Food and Fun is a school-based education programme that provides food and nutrition education, physical activity, enrichment sessions and healthy meals to children during the school summer holidays. Since its initial launch in 2015, the scheme has developed into a national, fully funded Welsh Government programme as part of the School Holiday Enrichment Programme (SHEP). About 60 children took part in the scheme at Pantside Primary School in Newbridge. The annual Tydfilians’ Roman Run returned last Saturday after a two-year absence. Due to COVID-19, the race was cancelled in 2020 – which would have marked the 40th Anniversary of the event which was restarted in 1980 to commemorate the Martyrdom of Tydfil 1600 years ago, and follows the route between the Forts of the Roman Legions stationed in Wales. A total 300 registered this year, including some people due to have run in 2020. A framework to assess potential development sites has been prepared as part of work on a strategy that will guide the scale and location of new development in the county. Powys County Council has started a three-and-a-half-year process to prepare a new development plan which will cover all of Powys, excluding the Brecon Beacons National Park. The Replacement Local Development Plan (2022-2037) will be drawn up to take effect from March 2026 when the current Local Development Plan ends.
