A leading civil engineering company has reached new heights of health and safety standards by landing a prestigious industry award.
Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK has been granted the order of distinction by The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
The Ruthin-headquartered company received the honour having achieved a 15th consecutive gold accolade.
The RoSPA health and safety awards are one of the most prestigious and recognised schemes in the world with almost 2,000 entries every year from 50 countries and a reach of more than seven million employees.
Winners are recognised for very low levels of error, injury, and loss, as well as impressive control of risk and highly developed occupational health and safety management systems and culture.
Mike Jolley, senior health, safety, and environment manager at Jones Bros, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been presented the order of distinction for 15 successive years of gold standard.
“After landing another gold and president’s award last year, we were focused on the next target, which was the distinction.
“Outstanding levels of health and safety can only be reached with the commitment and effort of every single staff member at the company.
“We will now be doing everything we can to make it 16 successive gold accolades and secure another order of distinction next year.”
As well as maintaining the highest standards of welfare on major UK-wide projects, including Dogger Bank Wind Farm and the King’s Dyke level crossing scheme, Jones Bros has extended its work with Mates in Mind, a leading mental health charity.
Mike added: “Health and safety covers a wide range of topics, and we are determined to support all employees, regardless of their position or work they do, in any way we can.
“Indeed, over the past 12 months we’ve introduced the ability to submit incident prevention cards electronically, which will not only support efficiency in dealing with issues, but also help reduce paper consumption.
“Through our work with Mates in Mind, 40 staff members volunteered to complete a mental health first aid course, so there is more support and guidance available than ever before.”

Established in the 1950s, Jones Bros owns one of the largest plant fleets in the UK and employs approximately 500 people.
