Caerphilly County Borough Council’s popular Which Way Now? event will return on 24th April 2023. In previous years the event has attracted hundreds of young people who are seeking employment, education, or training opportunities. It will be open to schools only from 10am- 1pm, and then to anyone who is unemployed or job searching within the public that wants some information and support, between 2pm and 4pm. Following a successful public consultation in July 2022, which saw over 200 people share their views, the Council commissioned Dragon Play & Sports to design and deliver a new play area. Incorporating the views of the public, the design of the play area is around a woodland and nature theme, which is in keeping with the country park surrounding it. Bird owners should continue to practice rigorous hygiene and biosecurity as housing measures for poultry and captive birds are to be lifted on 18 April, Chief Veterinary Officer for Wales Richard Irvine has said. While avian influenza risk levels to poultry and captive birds have reduced, the risk of outbreaks remains. Enhanced biosecurity requirements which were brought in as part of the Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) in December will stay in place. South Wales Police are continuing to investigate the murder of a 61-year-old man in Orchard Court Swansea. He has been named as David Green. David’s family is being supported by specialist trained officers and they have expressed their wishes for privacy at this time. A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. The parents of a girl diagnosed with cerebral palsy have revealed her determination to live life to the full despite the daily challenges she faces. Eirwen Ansell was found to be in the breech position when her mum Cath Ansell was admitted to Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport nine days over her due date. Cath was admitted to hospital at about 6.30pm. Following a conversation with medics, Cath said she agreed to an elective caesarean. Eirwen was delivered by emergency caesarean at 11.25pm.
