A former Welsh chapel in the backstreets of Ynyshir, Porth in the valleys has been transformed into ‘The Music Palace’ and is now the scene of a major revival of theatre organs and music, with concerts and events planned this summer. Professional theatre organist and musical entertainer Paul Kirner bought Saran Chapel (originally built in 1884) in 2012. He completed a major restoration project and has converted the chapel into a unique concert venue and bar with original fittings and fixtures added from 1930’s cinemas. The adventure company behind the world’s fastest zipline has broken yet another record and developed the world’s first cavern-style underground golf course. Amid rising inflation and intensifying economic headwinds, finance leaders assign a 63% probability to experiencing a recession within the next year, according to Deloitte’s UK CFO Survey Q2 2022. Over two-thirds (68%) believe high inflation will continue – anticipating it to remain higher for longer – and to exceed economists’ expectations. The majority of CFOs (86%) now expect inflation to exceed 2.5% in two-years’ time (up from 78% in Q1) – the highest reading on record. A football-mad youngster from Gwynedd showed he’s a talented all-rounder after excelling in a rugby competition. Max Lawson, 12, beat nearly 2,000 others to win a top-of-the-range HP Chromebook laptop and a smart carrying case in a competition at the Urdd National Eisteddfod in Denbigh. It was organised by Ifor Williams Trailers who are long-term supporters of the festival and had a stand at the event.
