16 prestigious Green Flags have been awarded to parks and green spaces managed by Cardiff Council, Keep Wales Tidy have announced. Hendre Lake Park in St Mellons has become the latest park to achieve the coveted international accolade, which are judged by independent green space experts against a range of strict criteria including biodiversity, community involvement, cleanliness and environmental management. Welsh Government has launched an ambitious new tobacco control strategy for Wales, which seeks to secure a smoke-free society, less than 5% of the adult population smoking, by 2030.  The strategy lays out firm actions and polices with the aim of finally ending the tobacco epidemic in Wales. Aldi is giving store colleagues in Wales a pay increase for the second time this year, maintaining its position as the UK’s best-paying supermarket. From September, all hourly paid colleagues at its Welsh stores will receive an increase of 40p an hour on their current hourly rate, taking Aldi’s minimum pay rates for Store Assistants to a sector-leading £10.50 an hour nationally and £11.95 for those inside the M25. A new concept called the ‘mediverse’ is being developed with the help of tech specialists at the University of South Wales (USW). Medical training business Goggleminds has come up with the idea – which continues the notion of the ‘metaverse’ – as it develops virtual reality technology for training medics and students.
