Year 11 pupils from across Wales have been taking part in a residential summer school funded by the Welsh Government as part of the Seren Foundation programme. The summer school, which is taking place at Aberystwyth University, is part of a pilot programme working with universities in Wales over the next three years. The Health Minister Eluned Morgan has accepted the recommendations of NHS pay review bodies and is today announcing a pay rise for NHS staff in Wales. The recommendation of the NHS Pay Review Body (NHSPRB), for all NHS staff on Agenda for Change terms and conditions – including nurses, cleaners, porters, healthcare support workers and healthcare professionals, is for a £1,400 pay rise on most pay grades. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in Wales following this week’s record temperatures. The warning is in place from 10am to 10pm this evening. While some areas will remain dry, slow moving, heavy thunderstorms are likely to develop from mid to late morning, likely peaking during the afternoon and early evening before decaying later. Aldi has announced it is looking to hire around 43 people in its warehouse in Cardiff over the next 12 months. In a welcome boost to the local economy, the UK’s fifth-largest supermarket is also looking to fill transport and warehouse roles at its Cardiff Regional Distribution Centre.
