Detectives investigating a serious assault in Cathays last month have made a further arrest, South Wales Police have confirmed. Officers were called to Pentyrch Street on the evening of Monday December 22 following reports of an assault. The victim, Colm Marcus Boston, aged 37 from Heath, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, where he sadly died four days later. Police have now arrested a 29 year old man from Splott on suspicion of assault and possession of an offensive weapon. He was arrested on Wednesday January 7 and remains in police custody. More than 230 cannabis plants have been discovered at a property in Cathays, Cardiff, following a police investigation. South Wales Police officers attended an address on Cathays Terrace after receiving information that the property was being used as a cannabis factory. During a search of the house, officers found a large cannabis grow and arrested a man who was located in the attic. The plants were seized and destroyed, and the property was made safe. Callum Blackley, 27, from Aberdare, has been sentenced to three years and four months in prison following his conviction for drug-related offences. A Wrexham man who indecently assaulted two teenage girls has been jailed. David Peers, 71, of Llay New Road, Llay, admitted nine offences of indecent assault and two counts of gross indecency with a child. The historic sex offences happened in the 1980s. The victims, who cannot be named as a result of lifelong anonymity were teenagers when they met Peers. He would engage in sexual activities with the girls in their school uniforms and take intimate images of them. A pollution incident has occurred following a leak from a heating oil tank located at the former Ardwyn School in Welshpool, Powys County Council has said. The incident has resulted in the migration of an unknown quantity of oil from the site which is known to be impacting properties within the town. The landowner is aware of the situation and is currently commencing actions to make the site safe. The leak has now been stopped.
