The tragic loss of a young man to suicide is driving a range of mental health and wellbeing initiatives at The Little Retreat glamping site in Lawrenny, Pembrokeshire and at The Big Retreat Festival, which takes place on land neighbouring the site from June 3-6. A new app which scans and measures wounds so staff can monitor them virtually is being used in Swansea Bay. By using smartphones and tablets, the app scans wounds and shares the images securely among staff who can check to see how they are healing. Developed by technology company Healthy.io, the Minuteful for Wound app is able to use the device’s camera as a diagnostic scanner to accurately measure the size of a patient’s wound. A new group of electric vehicles are driving the Council’s goal to reduce carbon fleet emissions. Denbighshire County Council has taken delivery of five new electric Toyota Proace City vans. Around 165,000 older households in Wales will have insufficient income to cover their essential spending this year, with almost two fifths of these (around 70,000) living in poverty or just above the poverty line and/or in receipt of benefits, according to the latest analysis by Age Cymru. 52 Pembrokeshire sports clubs have been successful in gaining funding from the Sport Wales ‘Be Active Wales Fund’ in the past financial year. The clubs have received a total of £282,000, with grants ranging from £600 to £36,000. The sports supported include athletics, archery, boxing, bowls, canoeing, cricket, football, golf, gymnastics, netball, rowing, rugby, sailing, surf lifesaving, swimming, stand-up paddle boarding, table tennis and weightlifting.
