Gemma Grainger’s Cymru will take on New Zealand, next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup hosts, in an international challenge match on Tuesday 28 June (KO 18:00 BST) in the Pinatar Arena in Spain. The two sides last met in June 2019, when a Kayleigh Green goal secured the 1-0 win for Cymru in drizzly conditions at the Leckwith Stadium in Cardiff. Top 100 UK law firm, Hugh James, has been reappointed to the Development Bank of Wales’s legal panel framework. Lawyers at Wales’s largest firm have been supporting the Bank, including its predecessor body Finance Wales, for almost 15 years. It now retains its role, despite a number of changes to the make-up of this latest panel of five firms. Researchers at Bangor University’s Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Centre have found a cost-effective way to improve the performance of networks which supply mobile services and broadband to our homes and businesses. As well as improved performance, the new technique is also kinder on the planet. Because of the technique’s lack of complexity, less energy is needed to transmit a given amount of data, so there is less of an environmental cost. More than £1m is being invested in establishing a Merthyr Tydfil creative training scheme to help local residents become artists, musicians, actors and filmmakers. The Wellbeing@Merthyr-coordinated Creative Industry Training Programme is being supported by 10 partners including Community Music Wales, Wales Millennium Centre, the Open University and Screen Alliance Wales. The construction of the new transport interchange in Welshpool is progressing well, with the final phase of resurfacing the Church Street car park planned to begin on Tuesday 10 May. To accommodate the resurfacing works, Church Street car park will be closed for ten days from 10 May. However, the smaller car park on the tourist information centre and toilet side, along with Berriew Street car park, will remain open.
