Lansdowne Primary School Headteacher Michelle Jones and her Deputy Head, Catherine Cooper have won first prize in the St David’s Awards, the national awards of Wales. The two senior leaders received the award in the Critical Key Worker category for thesupport they showed to families at their school during the coronavirus pandemic. It’s a proposal that’s been developed by Swansea Council after earlier public consultation on initial design ideas. The proposals show a new-look Castle Square with features such as an increased amount of greenery, including planting, lawned areas and an increased number of trees. Two Rhondda Cynon Taf residents, an employee and a shop owner in Mountain Ash have both been successfully prosecuted by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Trading Standards department for operating a fraudulent business and having counterfeit goods in their possession, for the purpose of selling. The 23-year-old female and 43-year-old male, husband and wife, appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Magistrates Court, where they both pleaded guilty to 24 offences relating to the sale and possession for supply of counterfeit tobacco products, dangerous goods and running a fraudulent business. Trading Standards Officers in Blaenau Gwent are warning the public to be on their guard for a telephone scam in relation to the cost of living support payment. The scammers claim to be associated with the council and explain a refund is due. They then ask for your bank details in order to pay out the £150 payment.
