Millions of pounds have been awarded this week to Pembrokeshire to support the regeneration of its town centres. Pembrokeshire County Council has welcomed the Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s announcement that its grant application to the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund has been successful. The Council has been awarded £17.7m to support the economic development of Haverfordwest, and a share of £19.9m to support its regeneration work at South Quay in Pembroke. New outdoor play facilities in the Bedwas and Trethomas areas of Caerphilly are already proving to be a hit with children and young people. The children’s play area at Bryn Park received new equipment, as well as the installation of a multi-use games area (MUGA).  The new facilities were funded as part of Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS) programme and thanks to an additional contribution of £20,000 from Bedwas, Trethomas and Machen Community Council. This week, First Minister Mark Drakeford, got his flu vaccination and encouraged others to take up the offer this winter to help keep people safe and well. This year will be Wales’ largest ever flu vaccination programme, with people aged 50 and over and all those eligible for a free vaccine being invited to have their jab. Hannah Leggat was one of 115 lucky people in Cardiff’s Bay area to win a share of this month’s £3.1 million Postcode Millions prize from People’s Postcode Lottery.
