Aldi has announced it is looking to hire 463 colleagues in Wales between now and Christmas. The UK’s fifth-largest supermarket is looking for people of all levels of experience to fill roles at its stores and distribution centres across the region, with salaries of up to £47,080. This includes apprenticeships and part-time positions such as Store Management Apprentice and HGV Driver, all the way up to Store Manager. South Wales Police can confirm that a 54-year-man who was assaulted in Bute Park, Cardiff, last month has died. Gary Jenkins, from Cardiff Bay, had been in a life-threatening condition since the incident during the early hours of Tuesday, July 20. Described by his family as a loving father, husband and brother, he died at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, on Thursday, August 5. Stunning new drone imagery shows how one of Swansea city centre’s key areas has gone green – and is a signpost to a greener future. A new world-class rail testing facility on a former opencast mining site at the head of the Dulais and Swansea valleys has been given the seal of approval by local councillors. Wales is set to see its largest ever flu vaccination programme this autumn, with the jab being offered to all those aged over 50 and all secondary school children. It comes after 2020/2021 saw the largest number of flu vaccinations – over a million – ever given in Wales, and for the first time, the uptake in the over-65s exceeded 75%. Cardiff wants to increase the number of people walking or cycling to work from 31% to 43% by 2030. To achieve this, Cardiff council’s cabinet discussed and approved for the draft Active Travel Network Map to go out to public consultation at its meeting on July 15thand a 12-week public engagement process will begin today (August 9th) and will end on October 31st. Pembrokeshire County Council has appointed Rob Davies as Head of Education Improvement and Commissioning, following a decision made by the senior staffing committee. Mr Davies, currently a Head of Secondary Achievement in Swansea will join the council on the 1st of October. Mr Davies will take up post in a reformed structure of the Education Department.
