Building services engineering and contracting company Dodd Group has moved within Pencoed to take larger 2,050 sq ft offices on the ground floor of Building 15, on a 10 year lease. New major investment in sports and youth facilities, roads, the environment and businesses will help boost a Swansea community. Mayhill has already seen millions of pounds invested in the last few years by Swansea Council and Leader Rob Stewart said more is coming. Following the Extreme Heat Warning issued for large areas of Wales this week, Public Health Wales has issued some advice for staying safe in the heat. The Met Office issued its first ever extreme heat warning yesterday with high temperatures – around 30 degrees centigrade – due to last until Friday 23 July. The area of concern includes South Wales. Prolonged periods of extremely hot weather can pose a serious health risk with those most at risk including older people, very young children and people with pre-existing medical conditions. Staff and pupils who will be moving to the new Ysgol Y Graig Primary School, Cefn Coed, at the start of the Autumn Term have been shown around their new ‘home’. Caerphilly County Borough Council has revealed plans to invest around £495,000 into play facilities for children and young people. It forms part of the Council’s Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS) programme, which has already seen over £260 million invested into the homes of its tenants and communities. Work has begun on an innovative development that will bring new energy efficient council homes to Caerphilly. Caerphilly County Borough Council is developing 6 new 1-bedroom apartments on the site of the former 49 Club in Trecenydd. The homes are expected to be completed in Spring 2022. Homes will be constructed to Passivhaus standard, consisting of very high levels of insulation, extremely high-performance windows with insulated frames, airtight building fabric and a mechanical heat ventilation system. A new plan to help food and drink companies across Wales get their products on the shelves of major retailers is being launched by the Welsh Government today.
