Welsh veterans in Cardiff will soon be able to get some Green Headspace at a new community gardening project for ex-servicemen and women, based at an allotment site in Grangetown. The Welsh Veterans Partnership has been working with Cardiff Council to bring uncultivated allotment land at Leckwith Droves back in to use, as an accessible growing project that will support and enable veterans and their families to integrate with the local allotment community through growing fruit and vegetables. Dogs looked after at Cardiff Dogs Home are £40,000 closer to new kennels, following the award of two grants, applied for in partnership with local charity The Rescue Hotel. A £10,000 grant from the Kennel Club Charitable Trust has been successfully secured, in addition to a £30,000 grant from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London. Christopher May, 32, from Kewstoke Avenue, Llanrumney, Cardiff, has been sentenced to 16 weeks in prison today at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court for illegal dog breeding, animal mutilation, causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and illegal importation of dogs. Health Minister Eluned Morgan has agreed a 3% pay rise for all NHS staff, as she today accepted the recommendations of the pay review bodies in full. The recommendations from the NHS Pay Review Body and the Doctors and Dentist Review Body apply to staff on Agenda for Change terms and conditions, which includes employed nurses, cleaners, porters and health support workers. It also applies to consultants, doctors in training, pre-2021 speciality and associate specialist (SAS) doctor contracts, salaried GPs and dentists. The First Minister has today announced her Majesty the Queen has accepted the recommendation that Owen Evans should become the new HM Chief Inspector of Education and Training in Wales. Owen Evans will replace the current Chief Inspector Meilyr Rowlands. Meilyr retires at the end of August 2021 and Owen will take up the post in January 2022.
