Newport City Council plans to install a further 230 new litter bins across the city. The work is part of the council’s commitment to increase bin provision and reduce the levels of litter on our streets. Forty bins were installed last month, with a further 190 planned. This includes 40 bins which will be installed alongside brand-new bus shelters. Most bins will be placed at new sites across the city. RCT Council will begin a scheme to repair and rebuild three river walls near Cross Street and Ynys Street in Ynyshir from Monday, in order to permanently rectify the damage caused during Storm Dennis. During the unprecedented weather in February 2020, the river walls at this location suffered damage, and emergency repairs were initially undertaken in response to this.
