The Joshua Tree was founded in 2006 by Lynda and David Hill after their son was diagnosed with leukaemia and discovered a distinct lack in support services for all family members during the traumatic experience of childhood cancer. A young wheelchair basketball star and athlete is aiming for Paralympic gold as lockdown eases after netting a major Welsh sports award. Sixteen-year-old Will Bishop, a Year 11 student at leading independent school Myddelton College, in Denbigh, is a double Welsh international on the basketball court and on the track. Ahead of its reopening later this month, football star Gareth Bale has signed a new 15-year lease for Elevens Bar & Grill in Cardiff city centre. Elevens first opened in May 2017 following an extensive redevelopment of the S.A Brain-owned venue on Castle Street; it was a new partnership between the brewery and the newly formed Elevens Group Ltd. Teams from Westerleigh Group’s crematoria walked a total of 1,000 miles to raise more than £3,500 in honour of pandemic hero Captain Sir Tom Moore to mark what would have been his 101st birthday at the end of April. Westerleigh Group, the UK’s largest independent owner and operator of crematoria and cemeteries, challenged teams at its 35 sites nationwide to do something to support the Captain Tom Foundation. Age Cymru has launched its annual creative festival for older people across Wales. Called Gwanwyn, the Welsh word for Spring, the month-long festival celebrates creativity in older age and highlights our ability to renew, grow and create. The first images have been released of the two showhomes at Bellway’s Rhiwlas at Plasdŵr development in Cardiff.
