Welsh shoppers will now be able to recycle cling film, crisp packets and salad bags at their local Tesco store as the supermarket rolls out the biggest network of soft plastic collection points in the UK. Tesco is putting the collection points in 41 Welsh stores as it rolls out the facilities to 171 Tesco Extras and Superstores, with plans to roll out the scheme to all large stores UK-wide. The police force tasked with safeguarding the largest land area in Wales has transformed its recruitment process after reaping the rewards from its work-based learning programmes. Dyfed-Powys Police employs more than 2,000 personnel who cover vast swathes of Mid and West Wales, safeguarding 515,000 people along with hundreds of thousands of visitors that flood into the area every year. A domestic abuse survivor has been inspired by her experience to set up her own painting and decorating business to help support other victims of abuse. Having suffered years of abuse at the hands of an ex-partner, Carrie Seymour, 37, from Caerphilly, now feels uncomfortable having men working at her home – something she found difficult while undergoing house renovations. Her experience has motivated her to support other women facing similar situations by offering services as a female painter and decorator. The Children’s Commissioner for Wales and the Minister for Wellbeing have jointly praised a national campaign banning parents from smoking at schoolgates in support of this year’s No Smoking Day. Over 140 schools across Wales have pledged to take direct action to reduce smoking at schoolgates today (10/03/2021) by putting up banners and sending messages to parents. Cardiff and Vale University Health Board has worked closely with Muslim Doctors Cymru and a number of General Practitioners from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities across Cardiff and the Vale to produce a series of bite-sized educational videos from trusted professionals to support people in making an informed choice about the Covid-19 vaccination.
