South Wales Police has confirmed the sudden and unexplained death of a 16-year-old girl in the Rhondda earlier today. Cause of death has not been confirmed and a post-mortem examination will take place to help establish how she died. Emergency services were called to a premises in Baglan Street, Treorchy, at approximately midday today (Friday, March 5) to reports of a stabbing. Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and are currently in hospital receiving treatment for serious injuries. A 29 year-old man has been arrested following a police incident in Barry this morning. South Wales Police sent armed officers to the incident in the Barry area and were met by a suspect brandishing what looked to be firearms. It take turned out that the firearms were not real. Following the incident, South Wales Police has shared a posted Facebook to highlight the split second decision that officers face. South Wales Police units are currently dealing with a serious incident which occurred in Baglan Street, Treorchy, at approximately midday today (5 March, 2021). Ambulance crews are also in attendance as the incident involves a number of casualties. The street has been closed off and people are advised to avoid the area until further notice. The National Trust has developed a “game changing” map that illustrates the threat climate change poses to some of its most culturally significant sites in Wales, England and Northern Ireland.
