EE announced today it has switched on 5G in Swansea, as the city joins 34 other places across the UK to get connected to its 5G network. Swansea is the fourth location in Wales to be connected to EE’s 5G network, after Cardiff, Porthcawl and Neath. The University of South Wales (USW) is aiming to be carbon neutral by 2040. This is part of a new USW Carbon Strategy, which recognises that decarbonisation is an essential requirement to operate and maintain a sustainable university environment – part of the University’s 2030 strategy. Lidl GB has confirmed that its new supermarket on Cardiff Road, Newport, has opened for the first time on Thursday 8th April. The new store will replace the current one at Mendalgief Retail Park, Docks Way, which closed on Wednesday 7th April. Caravan parks across Mid Wales are pulling out all the stops to welcome back England-based customers safely on Monday, April 12 as Covid 19 lockdown restrictions continue to ease. A specialist nurse in Swansea has become the first non-medical practitioner in Wales to qualify to give a sight-saving injection. People with certain ophthalmic conditions require steroid implant injections into their eye to avoid sight loss. Previously, this could only be done by doctors. But now Singleton Hospital-based medical retina nurse practitioner Melvin Cua has completed a training module and has started providing the treatment to patients.
