Parking charges set to be introduced at Pen y Fan Pond car park

Visitors to Pen y Fan Pond Country Park are advised of upcoming changes to parking arrangements at the site.

Caerphilly County Borough Council has leased the upper car park at the country park from Llanover Estate for a number of years, with the current agreement in place since 1999. Following notice from the landowner, this lease will come to an end on 30th April 2026.

The Council has made repeated attempts to renew the lease for the car park but Llanover Estates have refused to do so, served notice to terminate the Council’s existing lease arrangements, and have confirmed their intention to introduce parking charges at the car park formerly leased and managed by the Council.

From this date, Llanover Estate will assume management of the upper car park and adjacent grassed area. Caerphilly County Borough Council will continue to manage the remainder of Pen y Fan Pond Country Park, including the lower car park, visitor facilities and the reservoir.

Visitors will still be able to access and enjoy the country park as usual, with parking continuing to be available in the lower car park.

Work will be undertaken ahead of the change to ensure clear signage is in place to guide visitors and provide clarity on parking arrangements.
