A young swan found bloodied and grazed by fencing has been rescued at Montgomery canal, Berriew, near Welshpool. The swan was found at the canal near Brithdir locks at Brithdir Lane on 14 October by a dog walker – who alerted the RSPCA. RSPCA inspector Nayman Dunderdale said: “This swan was trapped in stock fencing in between brambles and had grazes and blood showing to both wings where it had struggled to get out. Cardiff Council is working with Beattie Passive to quickly increase the city’s supply of temporary accommodation with new high quality, high performance homes to cater for homeless families. The Welsh Government is doubling the third phase of its Economic Resilience Fund, making nearly £300m available to support businesses that continue to be affected by Covid-19. In September, the Economy Minister Ken Skates announced £140m would be made available under the third phase of the Welsh Government’s Economic Resilience Fund. A new fund of over £1m to help Wales’ unpaid carers cope with the financial pressures of Covid-19 has been announced by the Deputy Health Minister. Open to carers across Wales, the Carers Support Fund will see grants of up to £300 made available for a range of essentials, including; food, household items such as furniture or white goods, or electronics such as a laptop for access to support and services.
