The Health Minister, Vaughan Gething has confirmed £1.5m Welsh Government funding to children’s charity Bobath Wales to help purchase and develop a new premises in Llanishen, Cardiff. This significant grant will enable the charity to create a new modern, fit-for-purpose children’s centre which will result in a step-change in the provision of life-changing services to children and families living with cerebral palsy across Wales. A NEW skills and employment plan will aim to meet demand for training and education in key sectors across North Wales. The North Wales Regional Skills Partnership collaborated with private and public sector partners to produce the 2019-2022 strategy. Wales’ biggest tourism awards ceremony was attended by 540 industry representatives in Swansea’s Brangwyn Hall. The 2019 Swansea Bay Tourism Awards celebrated the tourism, leisure and hospitality industry across Swansea Bay. Around 4.7m people visited the area last year bringing nearly £448m into the local economy. This helped support over 5,700 jobs. More than 8,000 awards nominations and business entries were received – the highest since the awards started 13 years ago. An inspirational 99-year-old who regained her independence after a serious accident has been rewarded with a surprise birthday party. Staff at Gorseinon Hospital in Swansea organised the bash for Kathleen Davies, after being astounded by her recovery. Arriving by ambulance on Wednesday morning for her weekly exercise class, she was stunned to see the room had been decorated with banners and balloons and a buffet and cake laid on. “They’ve made such a lovely fuss. Members of a social group for people living with dementia and their friends have enjoyed a special trip down memory lane … by bus. The Forgetful Friends group, which meets on Tuesday afternoons in Llangyfelach Church Hall in Swansea, was treated to a day trip to Mumbles in a vintage double-decker bus. The kind gesture came courtesy of the Swansea Bus Museum and Transport Heritage Centre which provided a 1967 Regent V model used by South Wales Transport until 1982. The University of Wales Trinity Saint David is delighted to announce that South Wales-based construction company TRJ has been appointed to help deliver a new £1.5m scaffolding training facility. Work will commence on the project on December 6.  Led by the Construction Wales Innovation Centre (CWIC) in partnership with Construction Industry Training Board Wales (CITB), the new centre will be located at a purpose developed facility on Fabian Way in Swansea Bay.
