Pink Storage, the Welsh-born self storage company founded by Cardiff-based entrepreneur Scott Evans, has invested £1.5 million as part of its acquisition of StoreWise, a 102-unit facility in Nottingham. Pink, which now operates 16 sites across Wales, is rapidly expanding into major cities in England as part of its mission to become the UK’s fastest-growing independent self storage provider. Carl Peters-Bond has been named Kidwelly’s Town Mayor for 2025/2026 – his fourth successive term of office and the longest for 145 years in the historic town. Cllr Peters-Bond was unanimously voted as Mayor by all other councillors on Kidwelly Town Council. Cllr Laura Jones was voted Deputy Mayor. Cllr Chris Peters-Bond, Carl’s husband, will be his consort for the term. Kidwelly’s first recorded Mayor was Thomas Babington in 1618. Public conveniences on key travel routes across Powys are to benefit from significant upgrades thanks to almost £500,000 of funding. The Welsh Government grant – awarded to Powys County Council – will enable the refurbishment of toilets across Knighton, Llandrindod Wells, Llanwrtyd Wells and Rhayader. Improvements will be made to six public facilities in total, with Llandrindod Wells also expected to become the first town in Mid Wales to offer a Changing Places toilet alongside individual cubicles. The plans for a replacement for the A494 River Dee Bridge, a key part of North Wales’ road infrastructure, have taken another step forward as the preferred option is announced. Between Monday 9 June and Friday 13 June, major engineering work will be taking place between Cardiff Central and Newport. Trains will still run but will use the slower relief set of tracks on this part of the route. As a result, most main line South Wales train services will be amended, with services having extended journey times. Taxi operators and travelling public are being asked for views on plans to make paying for a taxi in Swansea easier for passengers. Swansea Council is seeking the views as part of a consultation on the introduction of new mandatory conditions for the taxi trade which would require all taxis to carry card-payment equipment. Neath Port Talbot Council has been awarded £803,000 in UK Government funding via the Levelling Up Fund to carry out detailed design work for a proposed Active Travel project involving Port Talbot’s historic Newbridge Road Bridge. The proposed overall scheme involves renewal work on the Grade II listed bridge and redeveloping the adjacent Dock Road as far as the roundabout linking Dock Road and Harbour Way. The people of Newport are recycling more than ever before. That’s according to new provisional figures for the financial year 2024-25 which show that Newport’s recycling rate was 71.45 per cent. This is the highest recycling figure ever recorded in Newport and has meant that the city has comfortably exceeded a target of 70 per cent set by Welsh government.
