Progress is building at Oakdale Place, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s flagship mixed-tenure eco-development on the former Oakdale Comprehensive School site, as the ambitious scheme continues to take shape.

One year on from the official ground-breaking, Cabinet Members visited the site to see first-hand how the vision is becoming a reality. Cllr Shayne Cook, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing, said “It’s exciting to be here and see the development coming to life.

“With the housing crisis continuing to put pressure on communities across the country, we knew we had to think differently as a Council; building high-quality, affordable homes that are environmentally responsible and efficient to heat. Oakdale Place is a great example of that vision.

“Construction is now well underway, the show home and marketing suite are open, and we’ve already had our first sales!”

Oakdale Place is the first development of its kind for the Council in offering open market sales, alongside affordable housing.  The development is being part funded by Welsh Government and work is anticipated to be completed in around Spring 2026.

Construction expert Willmott Dixon has been appointed to deliver the development Ian Jones, Director at Willmott Dixon said, “The journey from concept to construction has required collaboration, vision, and commitment from teams across Caerphilly Council and also from our partners.  Every aspect of the project from material choices to outdoor spaces, sets a blueprint for residential development across the borough.”

The marketing suite at Oakdale Place is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am – 5pm.
