A leading care organisation has revealed £15 million plans to build a dementia centre of excellence in Wrexham and redevelop another site in the town, creating 150 new jobs. Pendine Park say they are responding to the huge need for more specialist care because of the soaring number of people aged 85 and over which is due to double over the next two decades. Brave Grandmother, Muriel Best, and her Grandson, Matt Chamberlain, are taking on a skydive in aid of City Hospice and Parkinson’s UK. To celebrate Muriel’s 80th birthday and Matt’s 30th, the pair are skydiving at 10,000ft on Saturday 6th April to raise £500 for their chosen charities. Muriel, from Cardiff, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease 10 years ago but it hasn’t stopped her from doing everything she wants to do. Historians of the future will be given a glimpse of the NHS of today when they open a time capsule in Morriston Hospital in 2048. The capsule was unveiled at a ceremony yesterday (Tuesday 19th March) following on from last year’s NHS@70 celebrations. It includes instructions to be opened on the health service’s centenary. The capsule, sponsored by unions and Tata Steel, includes a selection of memorabilia representing past and present – ranging from 1930s hospital crockery to a 3D printed jaw.
