Flood hit Cardiff homes to receive financial support

Financial support for Cardiff residents and businesses affected by the flooding following Storm Dennis will be provided by Cardiff Council the authority has announced.

The Council will provide support, via a new Community Flood Recovery Grant – Hardship Payment, of £500 for residents and £1,000 for businesses, which have suffered internal property damage through flooding.

Cardiff Council leader, Cllr Huw Thomas, said: “While Cardiff escaped the worst of the floods there were still 24 properties in the city which suffered from internal flooding. We want to show support for the families and businesses which have been affected so we will be offering a discretionary hardship payment of £500 to residents and £1,000 to businesses flooded as a result of Storm Dennis.

“This money will be on top of the cash Welsh Government has already promised to those who have been affected. Assessments are currently being carried out on behalf of Welsh Government and once those have been finalised we will ensure affected Cardiff residents receive the money. We hope it will go a little way to helping them in their time of need.”
