Plans have been unveiled for a £25 million development of “smart” homes in the Conwy Valley which will create nearly 500 jobs during construction. Housebuilders Calon Homes have submitted a planning application to Conwy County Borough Council to build 111 houses on the 13-acre Maes-y-Felin site in Glan Conwy which they say will boost the local economy. Bronglais General Hospital in Aberystwyth is reaping the benefits of achieving its 100th apprenticeship delivered by award-winning learning provider Cambrian Training. The learning partnership between the hospital and Cambrian Training began 15 years ago and 101 staff, aged between 17 and their 60s, have since completed apprenticeship frameworks. The apprenticeships have been so successful at lowering staff sickness levels and improving performance that Hywel Dda University Health Board is considering using Bronglais as a model to introduce them in other hospitals in the new year.
