Newport-based Cargo Services (UK) Limited (CSUK) has been acquired by SIMEC Shipping UK Limited, part of GFG Alliance, which includes the Liberty House group of companies. University of Wales Trinity Saint David is delighted to announce a collaboration partnership with South Wales and Gwent Police forces to deliver the new Police Education Qualifications Framework. The collaboration, in direct response to new guidelines issued by the College of Policing, will co-deliver a degree apprenticeship, a post graduate diploma in policing and the new pre-join degree in Professional Police Practice, designed to raise the standard of policing. Sector 39 have recently returned from delivering a series of permaculture training sessions to help support communities to grow new crops and use their land sustainably. 8 out of 10 Ugandans live in rural areas and depend upon rain-fed agriculture which is increasingly affected by climate change, so new methods are needed to ensure that enough food is grown in these challenging conditions. A Swansea-based telecoms firm has completed a contract for BCB International, a company that manufactures life-saving specialist equipment, through providing a new Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications system that will assist BCB International expand its business. Trainers at the ready – the second annual Sepsis 6k charity run will take place in Swansea next month. [aoa id=”1″] The event is again organised by Morriston Hospital staff as part of their campaign to raise awareness of sepsis – known as the silent killer. A new digital service called Patients Know Best (PKB) is helping empower patients to be more involved in their care by securely giving them access to their own health records. Eleven-month-old Eden Olive was at M&S Culverhouse Cross this week to accept a cheque from the store on behalf of the Noah’s Ark Charity.  Colleagues and customers at the store have raised more than £13,500 over the last year for the charity’s Tiny Lives Appeal. Work has started to breathe new life into an historic Swansea location which was previously a work base for hundreds of council staff. Cross Hands-based Enzo’s Homes has moved construction workers onto the site of Penllergaer’s former Lliw Valley Civic Centre. They will build 80 homes, with a show home expected to be open by mid-November and the project completed in late 2020.
