Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was left in a critical condition following an incident in Cathays.

South Wales Police said officers were called to Pentyrch Street on Monday, December 22, following reports of an assault.

The victim, a 37 year old man, was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of assault and are currently in police custody while enquiries continue.

Police are now urging anyone who was in the Pentyrch Street area between 4:00pm and 9:00pm on the day of the incident to come forward. Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed what happened or who has dash cam footage that could assist the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police quoting reference number 2500404113.
