More than £1.5m of Welsh Government and EU funding will be used to transform the former Magistrates Court in Port Talbot to support new businesses, create jobs and attract investment to the area. Rebecca Evans, Minister for Housing and Regeneration, announced the funding to create high-spec office space in the listed building, through the Welsh Government’s £110m Building for the Future Fund. The Coronary Care Unit on C3 at the University Hospital of Wales recently received a very kind donation in memory of a patient. Cardiology patient, Mrs Elizabeth Price (nee Cassidy), died three years ago and in her memory her husband decided he wanted to do something to give back for the kindness they received from the ward. Mr Jim Price from St Mellons organised a horse and cart ride through Cardiff on 5 August 2018, with 35 carts and horses (with four men in each), with 300 volunteers turning out to raise money for the ward. The Public Accountability Measures 2017-18 published by Data Cymru, on behalf of the Welsh Local Government Association, shows that Denbighshire ranks sixth out of the 22 councils in Wales. This week saw the launch of a new leaflet and a series of postcards celebrating the unique townscape of Dolgellau. Striking illustrations of the town’s buildings, which feature on the postcards and leaflet, were drawn by Coleg Meirion Dwyfor art students.
