Donation from the heart for Cardiff Coronary Care Unit

The Coronary Care Unit on C3 at the University Hospital of Wales recently received a very kind donation in memory of a patient.

Cardiology patient, Mrs Elizabeth Price (nee Cassidy), died three years ago and in her memory her husband decided he wanted to do something to give back for the kindness they received from the ward.

Mr Jim Price from St Mellons organised a horse and cart ride through Cardiff on 5 August 2018, with 35 carts and horses (with four men in each), with 300 volunteers turning out to raise money for the ward.

Mr Price and his team of volunteers raised an amazing £774.43 for Cardiff & Vale Health Charity.

Lianne Daniels, Ward Sister, Coronary Care Unit and C3 Cardiology said:

“I’d like to thank Mr Price and his volunteers for raising such a fantastic amount of money for our unit.  Donations like these help us to provide items for the ward and patients that we would not normally be able to fund, which make a huge difference to patients’ experience of our service.”

Mr Price said: “It was my pleasure to raise money for the ward.  I’d like to thank the staff for their care for our family, and I’d also like to thank Tesco, St Mellons, for their help in putting on this event.”
