The main event hosted by the School of Engineering will be called ‘The Science of Speed’ which will be hosted in the fanzone. Macmillan Cancer Support’s bus for Wales, ‘Bronwen’, is set to make her debut at the Royal Welsh Show on Monday 23 July. [aoa id=”1″] The bus, which has been specially adapted to offer free information and support about cancer to rural communities in Wales, will be at the showground for the entire week. Onboard Bronwen is a friendly team of health and social care professionals, who are there to answer questions about cancer, in a private and confidential setting. A Merthyr Tydfil resident is set to complete a world first to virtually cycle 18,000 miles – and with it, raise nearly £70,000 for cancer research. Chris Daniel, 55, began the epic challenge last December and has now cycled the equivalent distance of cycling around the world on a static bike. The fundraiser was in memory of Chris’ wife, Rita – affectionately known as Rity – who died of bowel cancer in 2016. A doctor described by his colleagues as passionate, dedicated and a champion for stroke services in Wales has received the inaugural Welsh Stroke Excellence Award.
