Rhyl High School is undergoing further low carbon energy work to improve efficiency and cut long-term running costs at the site. Denbighshire County Council’s Energy Team is carrying out further work at the secondary school to help drive down energy use and costs. The team has managed several projects across Council owned buildings including schools, to help improve building energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and also usage costs over the longer term. A new ‘natural’ play area in Sanatorium Park in Cardiff has officially opened to the public. With a new 3-metre-high grassed mound at its heart, the play area features three slides, as well as climbing platforms, an ‘aero tilt’ spinner, an accessible ‘roto roko’ spinner, a wheelchair accessible roundabout, two new junior swings, a basket swing, and a range of other natural play features such as boulders and tunnels. Cardiff Castle will host a special celebration picnic, and residents are being encouraged to host street parties to commemorate the 80thanniversary of VE Day later this year. New cricket facilities are to be installed at two busy playing field complexes run by Swansea Council. The grounds at Ashleigh Road and Tir Canol are each to have two new non-turf pitches.
